irisheyes2014c: Guy from Ireland new to the city!

Hi all, my name is Niall. I'm from Ireland. I just finished a PhD and recently moved to New York. Loving life here so far and working in research which I enjoy.I'm big into music and always have a gig or two lined up. Favourite bands of all time would be The Who, Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Kate Bush, Elbow, Divine Comedy, The Kinks, Guns n Roses, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, Boomtown Rats, David Bowie, U2, Beatles, Elbow, Fleetwood Mac, Muse, Radiohead The Who, Metallica, Kate Bush, Tom Waits, Mick Flannery, the list could go on forever. Recently though I've been listening to a lot of Haim. They get a bit of mixed press but they're catchy and that's enough for me!I like a good film and my favourites include Mesrine: Killer Instinct (Watch that film now!), Vertigo, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Inception, Citizen Kane. Recent movies haven't been doing it for me lately, although I did enjoy 12 years a slave. You can't beat Michael Fassbender - what an actor!Food is important for, eh, living so I try to eat a lot of it :P Seriously though, I do like cooking. Recently bought a slow cooker so perfecting a good indian curry is the current preoccupationI play guitar and piano. I used to play in a band and my new year's resolution, which I have yet to get round to, has been to get a new band started up. I also enjoy sport and gym and am making better progress on that new year's resolution!
