Description
I have been told I'm very intense. Some say it's the eyes, others it's the expression on my face, and others say it is the attitude. I will passionately speak my mind, I drink my liquor straight, and I don't play games (except for roulette :) ). I like men who are "a little rough around the edges' but also intellectually stimulating, and solid (emotionally). Your travels and income will not impress me, but your brain and heart just might.I am Portuguese-American (Madeira Islands) and part Spanish. I look very Portuguese - black hair, short and stocky, Moorish features, and I also look a lot younger than I am . I have a lot of family in the bay area (hundreds of cousins, yup) as us Portagee folks tend to stay with our peeps.I'm an adult ESL teacher. My students are my life, and I dedicate a lot of time to serving them. Grammar, language, and cross-cultural understanding are passions. I work with a lot of refugees and displaced people so having an extremely open mind and heart is 100% necessary. On the same note, I'm underpaid and overworked, but that's the nature of the business. I have previous incarnations as a non-profit worker/activist/organizer.I also have been working in Chiapas, Mexico for 15 years now (and counting). My life is very focused on work and home (I own my home). And, I try to find time to play. Favorite things to do are: watch soccer at the Commonwealth, bet on the horsies at GG Fields (dollar Sunday!), take day hikes, eat oysters in Marshall, and hang out on the sofa with my grandma.I’m really good at organizing. Multi-tasking. Solving logic puzzles. Sudoku. Finding gaps and loopholes, ways around things and flaws. Spending hours focused on one thing. Convincing. Making salsa (mocalhete absolutely necessary). Making desserts from scratch (boxed things are the epitome of evil). And, I'm good at being bartender. The first things people usually notice about mePhysically, probably my tattoos if i'm showing them. If not, then probably my eyes. (that goes along with the intensity).Food: Portuguese, Spanish, Mexican, Thai, Indian, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Japanese, etc etc etc. I cook a lot and am gluten-free, I eat a lot of meat and veggies.Nonetheless, social justice and world politics are also at the top of my radar. I like to feel informed and know what's going on in the world and understand how it's all interconnected. I don't usually hang out at protests, but I enjoy attending informative events and fundraisers. The most private thing I’m willing to admitMy life has not been easy, so I have a real negative edge that comes out sometimes. I'm used to busting my butt to get my minimal needs met and therefore I have a really hard time relating to folks who've had it a bit easy. My heart is gold and while I've 'got them smarts' I've preferred to focus my life on giving all I've got to others. At the same time I'm not out to please anybody,Personality type: INTJ. Otherwise known as 'the mastermind.' My brain is constantly analyzing things and really never, ever stops processing. Honestly, it's quite common for me to lesson plan until late at night, and then when I finally go to sleep I continue lesson planning in my dreams. No kidding. I wake up and write it all down, and continue on with my work. Uber-efficient. Needless to say, I'm phenomenal at Sudoku and anything involving logic (you should see my GRE score in logic - holy mama).I am looking for a man who knows exactly what he's doing with his life, has no plans of leaving the bay area ever (unless you're interested in moving to Portugal), is extremely stable and level headed. I don't mind baggage so long as you know you've got it and are willing to deal with it. I like a man who keeps himself busy, has his own set of projects and interests. The word 'boredom' does not exist in my life and I don't understand people who have 'nothing to do.'Yes, I want kids. If you don't want kids, don't bother contacting me. (If you want the 14 passenger van full - contact me right away.) No, really, I'll probably settle for 3 kids. If you already have kids, I'm going to be really skeptical to write you back, as all of my history dating men with kids has just been too overloaded with drama. There are so many profiles on here that all sound the same, like, "Hey, I love Vegas and Napa!" I don't care that you work out, like to snowboard in Tahoe, and are into fine dining. I want to know what's in your heart. Tell me your issues, your passions. I want a man who knows exactly his place in this world and exactly what his missing partner's qualities are. This is marketing, right? Unfortunately, 99% of the emails I get on here simply say, "Hey, nice smile beautiful." Really? Do you think that's all it takes to win a lady over? Give me meat, some depth, stir my intellect, SOMETHING.
