After growing up in Pittsburgh, I came to DC for college. Ten years later, I'm still here and loving the city. I live for novelty and I'm always up for trying new things, wonky conversations, and trivia nights. I care about people, but I also love banter and snark. Some random facts about me:- I taught English in Beijing for a year.- I did ballroom dancing in college. I'm tempted to check out Jam Cellar swing nights to get back into it.- I play ultimate frisbee and tennis.- I can juggle. My older brother taught me when we were both kids.I recently started a new job at a think tank focusing on sustainable development. I've always been fascinated by how issues of economic development, environmental conservation, national security, and political rights and equity all interact with each other, and I've been incredibly lucky to get a job that focuses on that exact topic.I have a taste for British television and comedy: Doctor Who, Sherlock, Top Gear, Downton Abbey, Neil Gaiman, Eddie Izzard, and just about anything with Stephen Fry. Beyond that, I like epic TV series, with Game of Thrones and BSG being two of my favorites.I love seeing live music of just about any kind, and I'm pretty eclectic in my tastes. When I'm commuting or exercising, I listen to more radio/podcasts than music. Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and the Bugle are two of my favorites, and I listen to Morning Edition almost every morning. When it comes to going out, beyond the DC standard happy hour, I like to hit up trivia nights, Jazz in the Garden, dinner parties with friends, lectures, and the occasional play or concert.
